Kiara Sewell Advocacy for Victims and Families of Violence (KSAVFV) was founded from a mother’s determination to create change after the devastating loss of her daughter, Kiara Sewell.
From Tragedy to Purpose
After Kiara’s life was taken in an act of violence, our family experienced firsthand the overwhelming grief, confusion, and challenges that so many victims’ families face. We quickly learned that families are often left to navigate the criminal justice system, locate resources, advocate for themselves, and begin healing with little guidance or support.
Rather than allowing tragedy to be the final chapter, we chose to transform pain into purpose.
Our Mission
KSAVFV exists to stand beside victims, survivors, and families affected by violence by providing advocacy, education, prevention programs, grief support, community resources, and opportunities for healing.
Advocacy & Support
We walk alongside victims, survivors, and families, offering guidance through the criminal justice system and ensuring no one faces the aftermath of violence alone.
Education & Prevention
Through education and prevention programs, we empower communities with the knowledge and tools to recognize, respond to, and reduce violence before it occurs.
Community Resources & Healing
We connect families and individuals with grief support and community resources that open pathways to healing, rebuilding, and renewed hope.
Accountability
We encourage accountability at every level, working to strengthen public safety and foster conditions that help prevent future violence in our communities.
We believe every victim deserves to be remembered, every family deserves to be heard, and every community deserves the opportunity to heal and become safer.
Beyond Crisis Response
Our work extends beyond crisis response. Through programs serving youth, families, individuals rebuilding their lives, and those seeking healthier paths, we strive to address the root causes of violence while supporting those who have been impacted by it.
From young people who need guidance and safe opportunities to adults seeking a new direction, KSAVFV meets people where they are and walks with them toward a better future.
